Founded in La Crosse, Wis., in 1977, Riverfront is a private, nonprofit organization helping over 1,700 people with disabilities realize their hopes and dreams. Some individuals were born with disabilities such as Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and spina bifida. Some acquired a disability through an accident or disease and have traumatic brain injuries or severe physical disabilities. Many have multiple disabilities and some have mental illnesses.
